Sports Salsa’s Top 7 Weekend Sports Events
September 14-16, 2018
1. #12 LSU @ #7 Auburn
Saturday, Sept. 15, 3:30 pm ET
TV: CBS
Subscription Radio: SiriusXM 191; TuneIn Premium
The best top 25 matchup of the weekend. Auburn is roughly a 10-point favorite going into the matchup, but this game goes a long way toward any chance of beating Alabama for the SEC West crown.
2. Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers
Sunday, Sept. 16, 1 pm ET
TV: Fox
AM-FM Radio: Westwood One (Find affiliate near you)
Subscription Radio: SiriusXM 389 (Vikings) / 225 (Packers)
Will Aaron Rodgers play? (Of course he will.) Two 1-0 teams face off to grab the lead of the NFC North. Packers get a second consecutive home game at the start of the season. Cousins v Rodgers. Who you got?
3. Los Angeles Dodgers @ St. Louis Cardinals
Saturday, Sept. 15, 1:05 pm ET
TV: Fox
Subscription Radio: SiriusXM 184; TuneIn Premium
The weekend series is critical to these two teams fighting for playoff spots. The Sunday night game is available on ESPN as well.

4. Kansas City Chiefs @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Sunday, Sept. 16, 1 pm ET
TV: CBS
AM-FM Radio: Westwood One (Find affiliate near you)
Subscription Radio: SiriusXM 385 (Chiefs) / 227 (Steelers); TuneIn Premium
Pittsburgh almost finds itself in a must-win situation after an unbelievable tie with the Browns last week. KC looked strong in its opener against a Chargers team that many pundits had winning the AFC West.
5. #22 USC @ Texas
Saturday, Sept. 15, 8 pm ET
TV: Fox
Subscription Radio: SiriusXM 83/200; TuneIn Premium
Years ago, this would have been must-see TV. Both schools are limping at the start, with Texas entering the game at 1-1 and the Trojans at 0-1. The game will likely dictate fortunes for both clubs this season. You can expect the Texas home crowd to be up for this one.
6. New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys
Sunday, Sept. 16, 8:20 pm ET
TV: NBC
Subscription radio: SiriusXM 226 (Giants) / 225 (Cowboys); TuneIn Premium
Dare we put the Cowboys in the top 7 again this week after the clunker of an opener against the Panthers last week? The matchup features two 0-1 teams who both realize that starting the season with two losses decreases the odds of making the playoffs. Should be a tense battle between two rivals.
7. #4 Ohio State @ #15 TCU
Saturday, Sept. 15, 8 pm ET
TV: ABC
Subscription radio: SiriumXM 80; TuneIn Premium
Great for channel flippers as this game goes up against USC-Texas. Urban Meyer won’t be on the sideline, but the odds makers say the Buckeyes are roughly 12-point favorites. TCU will be looking to make a statement, though, and is hoping home-field advantage works for them.
Other Story-lines to watch this weekend:
- The only other college top-25 matchup this week is #17 Boise State at #24 Oklahoma State. Any chance for a top 10 finish this year for either team rides on this game.
- Hawaii is the only 3-0 team in the FCS right now. They take on Army. Can the ‘Bows extend the streak?
- The Atlanta Falcons are looking for their first victory, but will it come up against the Carolina Panthers?
- Mississippi has given Alabama fits in recent years. Will the Tide still be number one after this weekend’s game?
- Jon Gruden is looking for his first victory after returning to the Raiders sidelines. He takes on division rival Denver in a classic AFC West matchup.
- The LPGA Evian Championship takes place in France.
- Feel a cool breeze coming in? That’s the ice rinks of your favorite NHL teams filling up. Teams start dropping pre-season pucks this weekend.
